We are a supportive group of new and experienced meditators practising in the Soto Zen tradition. Our sittings are held @ Sakyamuni Buddhist Centre/Van Hanh Monastery 32 Archibald St. Lyneham 2:00-4:00pm on Sundays

If you are new to Zen practice and would like to join us, please email us so we can organise a brief orientation session to introduce you to the practice sufficiently before inviting you to join the formal sitting on Sundays. Participation in the practice can also be online via Zoom. Please contact us @ canberrasotozengroup@gmail.com for further information and to make a booking.

We hold weekly ‘Zazenkai’ services, in the Soto Zen School (Mahayana Buddhism) tradition. The service includes two periods of zazen (seated meditation), kinhin (walking meditation), a tea ceremony, chanting and reciting of Buddhist sutras (in Japanese and in English), and a reading from Zen sources. See our Zazenkai Timetable page for details.

Other activities are planned during the year linked to Soto Zen practice: one-day workshops, short retreats, talks and discussions by teachers in the Zen tradition. Everyone is welcome!

See 'Contacts' for a map and contact details including our Facebook page.

“To practice the Way single heartedly is, in itself, enlightenment. There is no gap between practice and enlightenment or Zazen or daily life”
