Canberra Soto Zen Group
The Canberra Soto Zen Groups Sittings are held @ Sakyamuni Buddhist Centre/Van Hanh Monastery 32 Archibald St. Lyneham 2:30pm - 5:00pm on Sunday.
If you are new to Zen practice and would like to join us we will organise an orientation session in the evening through the week to introduce you to the practice sufficiently before inviting you to join the formal sitting on Sundays. Participation in the practice can also be made online via Zoom. Please contact us @ canberrasotozengroup@gmail.com for further information and to make a booking.
We hold weekly ‘Zazenkai’ services, in the Soto Zen School (Mahayana Buddhism) tradition. The service includes two periods of zazen (seated meditation), kinhin (walking meditation), a tea ceremony, chanting and reciting of Buddhist sutras (in Japanese and in English), and a reading from Zen sources.
Other activities are planned during the year linked to Soto Zen practice: one day workshops, short retreats, talks and discussions by teachers in the Zen tradition. Membership of the group is desirable but everyone is welcome!
See 'Contacts' for a map. A donation of $5 would be appreciated.
“To practice the Way single heartedly is, in itself, enlightenment. There is no gap between practice and enlightenment or Zazen or daily life”
